Plone developers will be able to create the foundation for a low-maintenance, high-performance, easy-to-customize site in minutes thanks to recent improvements in Enfold Systems' open-source Entransit software.

Enfold has created an Entransit installer for use with Buildout, a tool popular with Plone and open-source developers. Buildout retrieves parts from a variety of sources to assemble applications quickly in a standardized, repeatable way. Entransit, in turn, makes a Plone-managed Web site much easier to customize by separating the public pages from the pages of the content management system.

Entransit is the technology that enables Enfold's Decoupled Delivery solution. A new version of Entransit--including the new "buildout," large-file support, faster content deployment and improvements for running in a hosted environment--should be released for use by other developers some time this quarter.
